Sanchayanam Ashes
AnasooyaAthreyaSeshaAnjaneya VIJAYAkrishna : Srimathi Sumangali RAmarAju VIJAYAkrishna Lakshmi KAmeswari :
' Garuda PurANam ' : SANCHAYANAM = Collection Of Ashes - on 3rd day Ashes from Swarga Vaatika / Crematorium are collected into an earthen pot and immersed in sacred rivers - Ganga , Godavari, Krishna &c within ten days of cremation and at home daily rituals as detailed before are carried out for 12 days following cremation. During the first 12 months , no other religious or any family function is performed except 12 monthly rituals ( maasikams ) and at every maasikam along with departed soul two previous generations are propitiated - for example - Father is VASU roopam; Grandfather is RUDRA roopam; Great grandfather is AADITHYA roopam. The family members performing these daily and monthly rituals should abstain from mundane pleasure-seeking activities. After Samvatsareekam ( First Anniversary = Pratthama Vardhanthi ) a visit by a family member to VaranAsi, Punya Prayaaga, Gaya, and Badri Brahma kapalam are beneficial both to above mentioned three generations and most important to all the descendants .

Yama Dharma Raaja
AnasooyaAthreyaSeshaAnjaneya VIJAYAkrishna : Srimathi Sumangali RAmarAju VIJAYAkrishna Lakshmi KAmeswari :
' Garuda PurANam ' : Brahma Pithaamaha assigned Yama the task of Being Judge of humanity and assured Him that He will not be blamed for causing death of humans and that He and Mruthyu Devatha are entirely different and bestowed Him with honorific Dharma RAja and since then Yama came to be known as Yama Dharma RAja, whose duty it is to honor those who follow tenets of Sanaathana Dharma truthfully and to judge sinners. Yama is Samyamini, meaning absolutely impartial and HE defers only to The Authority of Lord Siva as manifest in the case of Maarkandeya and HE is a very generous host to those highly deserving as in the case of Nachiketha. In HIS task HE is assisted by Chithraguptha Gandharva and 12 witnesses Sravana Gandharvas. Yama Dharma RAja traces HIS origins to Brahma - Mareechi - Kashyapa - Soorya - Yama. Let us utter HIS Names with Reverence : Om Yamadharmaraajaaya Namaha; Om Kaalaaya Namaha; Om Samavarthaaya Namaha; Om Vaivaswathaaya Namaha; Om Odumbaraaya Namaha; Om Neelaaya Namaha; Om Vrukodaraaya Namaha; Om Jangamaaya Namaha; Om Vichithraaya Namaha; Om Dharmadwajaaya Namaha; Om DwaadasaSravanaaya Namaha;
Om Chithragupthaaya Namaha; Om Saneswaraanujaaya Namaha; Om Yaamunaagrajaaya Namaha; Om Vasu Rudra Aadithya Swaroopaaya Namaha; Om Aadhyaathmika Saanthiye Namah; Om Aadibhauthika Saanthiye Namaha; Om Aadidaivika Saanthiye Namaha. River Vytharani
AnasooyaAthreyaSeshaAnjaneya VIJAYAkrishna : Srimathi Sumangali RAmarAju VIJAYAkrishna Lakshmi KAmeswari :
' Garuda PurANam ' : VICHITHRA BHAVANAM - Eighth Stage in Aathma's journey southward from Seventh Stage Krooram to Eighth Stage Vichithra Bhavanam to reach on 180 th day after demise. Vichithra Bhavanam is located on the Norhern Bank of River Vytharani (Styx). The Lord of Vichithra Bhavanam is one named VICHITHRA, an younger brother of Lord Yama Dharma RAja. Aathma is worried about crossing R.Vytharani and IT's hunger & thirst are not satisfied of ritual offerings by family of Food , Drinking Water, due to apprehension of crossing R.Vytharani. Moreover Vichithra is more fearsome in appearance than even Yama. R,Vytharani is more than 1000 miles wide and ferocious to look at . Only those who are righteous and were kind to fellow humans and cows and those who gifted A Cow ( Gowh Daanam ) to A Vedic Pandit are allowed to cross the River by Boats ferried by Yama Kinkaras where as rest of sinners who were cruel to Cows and those against Vedic Sanaathan Dharma have to wade through the River full of crocodiles and other unspeakable objects . Journey continues Southward towards 9 th Stage - Om Aathma Saanthi, Om Bhootha Saanthi, Om Daiva Saanthi. Journey of JeevAathma
AnasooyaAthreyaSeshaAnjaneya VIJAYAkrishna : Srimathi Sumangali RAmarAju VIJAYAkrishna Lakshmi KAmeswari :
' Garuda PurANam ' : SAILAAGAMAM - Fifth Stage in Aathma's journey southward from Fourth stage Gaandharvam to Fifth Stage Sailaagamam where JeevAathma arrives by Fourth month after demise. The monthly ritual offerings are made in three ways - 1. Feasting Vedic Braahmin Pandits; 2. Pindas ( Cooked Rice Balls ) offered to Holy Fire ( Agni Havanam ); 3. Food offered to A Cow ( Gowh Maatha ) or in the absence of A Cow, a food ball is left at a high place for crows to feed upon ( Vaayasa Pindam ) - all these methods facilitate food and water reaching JeevAathma on It's arduous journey and fit to resume journey southward.
After ritual offerings by family of Food , Drinking Water, and essential items of livelihood, with due reverence to deserving Vedic Learned Pandits, Cow and / or Crows . Journey continues Southward towards Sixth Stage - Om Aathma Saanthi, Om Bhootha Saanthi, Om Daiva Saanthi. AnasooyaAthreyaSeshaAnjaneya VIJAYAkrishna : Srimathi Sumangali RAmarAju VIJAYAkrishna Lakshmi KAmeswari :
' Garuda PurANam ' : SOWRYAM: Second stage in the journey of JeevAathma - from first stage Sowmyam to Sowryam , a distance of 37,050 miles to be covered in fifteen days to be at Sowryam in time for 45 th day ritual . Journey from Sowmyam to Sowryam is via Yaamyam but no stopping at Yaamyam, since Goddess of Death is particular that Aathma should be at Sowryam in time for the important 45 th day Vedic Ritual - 45 days means 3 times fifteen = three times Paksham (15) = Thrai pakshikam which is very important for the smooth travel of JeevAathma. Here Goddess of Death presents JeevAathma before Jangama , Lord of Sowryam. Jangama is closely related to Yama and resembles HIM in visage. At Sowryam JeevAathma and accompanying party are pacified by offerings down below upon Mother Earth a ritual that should be performed with Sraddha = sincerely as prescribed in Anthya Ishtti = Final Vedic Ritual. Please note offerings include Food , Drinking Water , and essential items of livelihood , all of which are offered with due reverence to deserving Vedic Learned Pandits - Journey continues Southward towards Third Stage -

AnasooyaAthreyaSeshaAnjaneya VIJAYAkrishna : Srimathi Sumangali RAmarAju VIJAYAkrishna Lakshmi KAmeswari :
' Garuda PurANam ' : By 18 th day after leaving Mother Earth JeevAathma and accompanying Goddess of Death reach Their First Stage In Their Journey , Sowmyam , covering a distance of 12,350 miles . Sowmyam is located on the northern bank of River Puspabhadra , where reside those unfortunate souls who did not have the benefit of proper Vedic Ritual following their demise ; they are Bhootha , Pretha , and Pisaachaas hanging on to the branches of a banyan tree ; in due course Parameswara takes pity on them and absorbs them into HIS Pramattha Ganas . JeevAathma for whom post funeral rituals are performed with Sraddha (sincerely) will be permitted to stay under the shade of that banyan tree for next 12 days until the first monthly ritual of offering Food , Water , and other essential gifts to deserving Vedic Pandits . Then JeevAathma crosses River Puspabhadra from North to South and proceeds Southwards to Second Stage-

VIJAYA JeevAathma
AnasooyaAthreyaSeshaAnjaneya VIJAYAkrishna : Srimathi Sumangali RAmarAju VIJAYAkrishna Lakshmi KAmeswari
: ' Garuda PurANam ' : Fortified with monthly offerings of family, Thumb size ( Angushtta pramaana ) Aathma acquires the size of A Hand ( Hastha pramaana ) JeevAathma ( Soul with awareness of self ) and looks back at what happened to IT , now without Five coverings ( Pancha kosas ) - 1. Annamaya Kosa, 2. Praanamaya kosa, 3. Manomaya kosa, 4. Vijnaanamaya kosa, and 5. Aanadamaya kosa; without Five Life Breaths ( Pancha Praana Vaayus ) - 1. Praana vaayu, 2. Apaana vaayu, 3. Vyaana vaayau,
4. Udaana vaayu, and 5. Samaana vaayu ; and how Jeevi the body was consigned to Five Elements ( Pancha Bhoothas ) - 1. Fire ( Agni ), 2. Earth ( Bhoo maatha ), 3. Air ( Vaayu ), 4. Aapa ( Water ), and 5 . Space ( Aakaash ) - signifying ashes in fire, ashes over Earth, ashes blown away by air, ashes immersed in Holy Rivers - Krishna , Godavari , & Ganga, and finally Ashes carried away into cosmos. Thus Hastha Pramaana ( Hand sized ) JeevAathma is moving along towards the court of Yama accompanied by Mruthyu Devatha ( Goddess of Death ) thinking about the twelve days of rituals , offerings of food & water , various gifts to deserving Pandits, purification ceremony , honoring relatives , friends , guests , and neighbors to a feast in IT's memory and all returning back to their homes and lives ---
