During the first 12 months , no other religious or any family function is performed except 12 monthly rituals ( maasikams ) and at every maasikam along with departed soul two previous generations are propitiated - for example - Father is VASU roopam; Grandfather is RUDRA roopam; Great grandfather is AADITHYA roopam. The family members performing these daily and monthly rituals should abstain from mundane pleasure-seeking activities. After Samvatsareekam ( First Anniversary = Pratthama Vardhanthi ) a visit by a family member to VaranAsi, Punya Prayaaga, Gaya, and Badri Brahma kapalam are beneficial both to above mentioned three generations and most important to all the descendants .
